"When I Said I Do"

(by Clint Black & Lisa Hartman Black) Clint Black & Lisa Hartman Black - Clint Black: Greatest Hits II - When I Said I Do

"These times are troubled, and these times are good
And they're always gonna be, they rise and they fall
We take 'em all the way that we should
Together you and me, forsaking them all
Deep in the night and by the light of day
It always looks the same, true love always does
And here by your side, or a million miles away
Nothin's ever gonna change the way I feel,
The way it is, is the way that it was

Chorus:
When I said I do, I meant that I will 'til the end of all time
Be faithful and true, devoted to you
That's what I had in mind when I said I do

Well this old world keeps changin', and the world stays the same
For all who came before, and it goes hand and hand
Only you and I can undo all that we became
That makes us so much more, than a woman and a man
And after everything that comes and goes around
Has only passed us by, here alone in our dreams
I know there's a lonely heart in every lost and found
But forever you and I will be the ones
Who found out what forever means

Chorus

Truer than true, you know that I'll always be there for you
That's what I had in mind
That's what I had in mind
When I said I do"

Today, Christopher & I have been married for 13 years! Considering the fact that last Fall I wasn't sure Chris would make it to this anniversary, I don't consider this "unlucky 13" at all! Isn't is something how a cancer diagnosis can change your perspective? When at any given point, he may not be here in 6 months (as my mister so bluntly puts it), I am extremely grateful that he has made it almost 11 months now with no metastasis! (I don't mean to always bring up the whole cancer thing ~ but obviously, it's never far from my thoughts). Anyways, I am so glad to be celebrating this anniversary with him! {I love you, Mister, & I'm so fortunate to have you in my life!}

For my regular readers, you may not have been aware that I've been participating in "Meetings, Marriages, & Memories" over at Musings of a Future Pastor Wife for the past few Mondays. As you may recall, I did a "Through the Years" series last Fall, so I have been posting the links to those posts each week. What I should have done was at least re-post them each Monday, so that my friends could get involved. I'm sorry about that! But, you can still read some great love stories by clicking on the above link. And, from what I understand, it's not too late to join in!

So, what I've decided to do here for our anniversary is put the links all together in one post. In the Fall, I wrote them in consecutive order, so you could just click on the "Through the Years" label at the bottom of this post & read them backwards. Or, you can click on the links below, one at a time ~ whatever you prefer to do! {I aim to please!!} [Also, if you care to hear the songs that aren't in the playlist below, my mister fixed my player! You should be able to see the little play button below the artist's name now ~ I'm not sure what the problem was before! I try to pick songs that are on the playlist website, but most of the songs in this series weren't on there.]
