"Brokenness Aside"

(by All Sons & Daughters)

I hope y'all have had a good week and weekend! Mine was pretty good! Though I didn't think to take a picture, my birthday girls and I celebrated Marcie's birthday on Monday! Aside from that, there were just a couple of other exciting things this week...

Cody had his first track meet on Thursday night, and Alex & Isaac ran as well. If they can't be on the same team, I'm glad that we get to see them & cheer them on at the meets!

Cody did as I expected and then some! In the 800, he placed 2nd to his teammate who won district last year. And he won the mile! Those are the things that I expected. What I didn't expect was for him to place 8th overall at the meet and set PRs in both events! His time in the 800 was 2:18, and his mile time was 5:14! His goal is to break 5-minute mile this year, and I really think it's possible!! I'll keep y'all posted.

In other good news...Baby girl got a new car!! We got him from the same broker as Lola, and she gave us a really good deal on him! He was originally going to cost a bit more, but I was simply honest with her about what we could spend, and she came down to that. We definitely plan on getting her help when we're ready to replace Travis!

Y'all may have seen Oliver's picture on Instagram or Facebook, but here are a few more pics & details...

Oliver is a 1999 Toyota 4Runner that belonged to the broker's elderly neighbors.

He has very low mileage for his age (just over 119K)...

...& I think he looks pretty good for his age, too!

As for today's song, it's just good! If you haven't listened to much All Sons & Daughters' stuff, you really should!

I hope y'all have a super great week!! ♥

"Half of My Life"

(by Sliem)

I have officially reached the point where I've been with Christopher longer than I've been without him! He reached this point last year (on February 22), but I'm almost a year older so it took me almost a year longer to get here! Not to be Gloomy Gus or anything, but when I put this particular item on my list, I really didn't think we'd get here (because of stupid cancer). So this is pretty exciting!!

Because posts are better with pictures, here's one of our first selfies:

I figure that Natalie is pretty close to this point {in the next year or so, huh? I know that you've known him for over half of your life!} What about the rest of you married folks? When will you reach the point that you've been with your spouse longer than without them? Or am I the only weirdo who has calculated the date?! ;)

"Make You Mine"

(by Us the Duo)

I thought today's song was a good one for Valentine's Day weekend! ♥ We aren't big Valentine's Day celebrators, but we do have our random little Waffle House tradition! My little friends Clara Belle and Caleb had other plans, so they didn't come with us this year.

Aside from our little tradition and All Sons & Daughters, there were a few other fun things this week...

...Cody's school had a Science Night on Monday, so we went and saw/conducted a few experiments.

...Elly, Laurien, and I went to the mall and ate delicious pizza at CPK for lunch yesterday!

...Today after church, we had lunch with Jeremiah, Jessica, and their family! It has been way too long since we've seen them, so I was so glad to have a chance to catch up with them! ♥

...And Cody put his first four points on the board at his basketball game yesterday, so that was pretty super! I managed to get his first one on video, though...

{His second basket was prettier, but I only thought I was recording it...ugh!}

I hope y'all have a super great week! And if you did anything special for Valentine's Day, I'd love to hear about it! ♥

"More Than Anything"

(by All Sons & Daughters)

I got to see All Sons & Daughters last night!!!!

Laurien picked me up from work, and we met up with Sheridan for dinner beforehand. There were also a couple of women from her church, Stephanie and Meagan. I know Stephanie's husband & may have met her before(?), but it was definitely my first time to meet Meagan. I liked them both & think we could be friends... ü

We ate at a burger place then met up with Coco at the church where the event was being held. The band was joined by their pastor, Jamie George, who spoke a couple of times throughout the night. Sandra McCracken was scheduled to be on this tour, but she wasn't there (more on this later). Tim Timmons was there instead. I had never heard of him until I saw him on a video with AS&D, but I think I like him! Due to stupid cancer, I think we have a similar perspective on things, and I'd like to know more of his story.

Because it was a night of worship and not really a concert, I only took a couple of [not so great] pictures when it first started.

We were standing around talking afterward, and the Sandra McCracken subject came up. We all thought she was supposed to be there, but nothing had been said about why she wasn't. I looked up and saw Jamie George standing a few feet away and suggested that Sheridan ask him why Sandra wasn't there. She seemed a bit unnerved at the thought of doing that, so I did. And she took this picture because she couldn't believe I just walked over there and asked. I just didn't want us to always wonder...

...and in case you care, there was a schedule conflict. Sandra couldn't be at the first three shows, so Tim stepped in. She didn't join the tour until tonight. :/

Anyways, the night was soooo good! I had a hard time deciding on what song to post, because they're all so great! Ultimately, I decided to go with this one since it has been on my mind all day. The words are so good and true:

"What can compare to the love of Jesus?
Who can repair every broken thing?

No other One can break this darkness
No other name...

I need You more than anything...

Through the calm and the storm, in the chaos
Though the mountains will crumble, You will not
Never failing Your promise eternal...

I need You more than anything..."

"No Matter Where You Are"

(by Us the Duo)

I've been listening to Us the Duo since Elly told me about them (right before I left for India). I didn't realize that this song was in the movie The Book of Life until I found the video. I haven't seen the movie and know nothing about it, but it seems like it has something to do with Dia de los Meurtos. Don't judge me...I like this little duo! I plan on posting another song of theirs soon, and it's super cute! ü

Most of my week was the same as usual: work, chiropractor, and church. Other than that and a little debrief with my India teammates and the Missions Team at church...

I had coffee with the most handsome & sweet boy that I know....

...And we hosted DNOW at the Warehouse this weekend! Our family had a couple of schedule conflicts that made it a little difficult to host a group this year, but I helped with checkin & transportation (a bit) and sat in on the sessions. My friend Colin led worship again, along with my friend Craig & a couple of other guys. I enjoyed catching up with them! :) The only pictures I took were when Kloe' and I were at the checkin table...

... & when we were instructed to take selfies!

I also took some video of the hoedown {because Mabry convinced my boy to dance!}

Baby girl had her big art contest yesterday! We didn't officially find out how she did, but it's not the most organized contest. We don't think she made it to the next round, but we're proud of her finished product! She drew Bailey's boots in a puddle and titled it, "Learning to Dance in the Rain" {based on Bailey's favorite quote, “Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass...It's about learning to dance in the rain.”}

I suppose that's all for now. I have an exciting event this week and hope to have a chance to blog about it {& maybe India?!} :) I hope y'all have a super great week! ♥

I'm still getting over jet lag and a bit of a cold, but I didn't want to let another weekend go by without a post. Plus, I don't think I've posted any JOHNNYSWIM, and you really need to hear them (if you haven't already)!

Because I need to go to bed, I'll just get down to it...these are the highlights of my last week or so:

My teammates & I wore our saris on the Sunday after we got back from India!

{If we do this enough, we might eventually learn how to put them on properly!}

I managed to fill Lola's tank for super cheap!

My friends speak my love language and showered me with yummy goodness one day! Lindsay & Kim brought me coffee, and Jana brought me toffee from a trip she recently took to Tennessee {Hey Brooke! ü}

Baby girl & I went shopping and out to lunch yesterday...

Then we went to Cody & Ike's basketball game...

{They won!!}

And then we saw another high school play that a couple of our friends were involved in. This one was much less weird & way easier to understand than the last one, so we give it a thumb's up! :)

Laurien joined our family for pizza & movie night on Friday (really just the girls because Chris took Cody to basketball practice), I enjoyed visiting with a new church friend at a Ladies Night Out this week, and we went to Brian & Jana's to watch some commercials & a little football game tonight. I didn't think to take any pictures of those things, though.

That about sums up the good stuff. I hope y'all are doing well, and I look forward to catching up on your blog posts soon!
