"When I Say I Do"

(by Matthew West) When I Say I Do - Hold You Up - EP

I'm finally getting around to posting pictures from Julie's wedding! I posted a couple of pictures earlier (that were more about the preparations & such), but I know that y'all really just wanted to see the beautiful bride in her wedding gown! I have come to realize that the downside to being in the wedding party is the fact that you're too busy to take pictures of the important stuff! :) So here are some of my favorites from the wedding photographer...

The kiss! ♥

I love this one of Julie with her parents!

& this one with Jana & Julie and their complete family ♥

I know that I said this before, but I'm so glad that these people are in my life. Their family is super, and I am honored to have been a part of Julie's wedding.

"Knows My Name"

(by Seventh Day Slumber) Knows My Name - The Anthem of Angels

Knows My Name by Seventh Day Slumber on Grooveshark

My babies went back to school today. I can't believe they're in 6th & 8th grades now!

My baby girl is in her last year of junior high...

...& my sweet boy is now in middle school!

How did this happen so fast?!

And because I'm a weirdo, I thought I'd let y'all know that the peacocks welcomed us back once again!

There were some great words spoken at church yesterday, and I thought I'd share a little bit of it with y'all. It not only relates to this day for my children, but it relates to you & me as well. I'll try to sum it all up in a way that makes sense...

In the student ministry, we are starting a new series called "I AM". We began in Exodus 3, where God called Moses to go to Egypt and be God's instrument in the deliverance of the children of Israel from their bondage. Aaron asked the students to consider what God has delivered them from and to walk in that deliverance, not turning back to old habits. God told Moses to go, saying that He would be with Moses. As God sent Moses, He is also sending our students out into the mission field of school. And He sends us out, too. Whether it be to our job, neighborhood, local church, or an "official" ministry somewhere, we are all called to at least one specific mission field. Like Moses, we tend to ask God who we are that He would send us to ___(fill in the blank)___. But He promises to be with us as well. The great I AM knows what is best for our lives, and He is trustworthy and sufficient.

Then in the worship service, our pastor began a series on the Church. At one point, he showed us a picture of the stars. He explained that it was actually a picture of many galaxies, consisting of millions of stars each. Neil referenced the scripture (Psalm 147:4) that says God placed the stars & named them all. In an email this morning, he elaborated more about the stars, and I want to close with his words, "As you begin your week, remember that you are known and named."

Go, knowing that God is with you and that you are known & named, my friends. ♥

"The Struggle"

(by Tenth Avenue North) The Struggle - The Struggle

I had a super great week! My brother went with me to visit my baby brother last time. When we were checking in, Aaron's boss walked through. I asked her if she had met our older brother before (she hadn't), and she looked at us real closely and said, "Y'all look real close in age. How far apart are y'all? 15 months?" did she do that?! Anyways, they just happened to be taking pictures that day, and Kerry had enough money in his car to buy one! This is only the second time we've been to see him together, and the other time was for Bible study. So this is the first time we've been able to get a picture of the three of us. We'll have to take a little road trip to see Ivar when he gets out! I'm pretty sure the four of us haven't been together since the Christmas after their mom left {15 years ago?} or taken a picture since Kerry & I were in high school {we won't mention just how long ago that was, but let's just say that Aaron is small enough for me to hold him in our last photo of the four of us together!} Wow, I'm rambling already! Here's the picture, and I'll move on...

{We've all taken better pictures in life, but I thought I'd share anyways}

Chris had an appointment with his ocular oncologist this week. Nothing has really changed, so that's great! He is seeing 20/20 out of his good eye & CF 1' (up to 3' if he looks away, blinks, and happens to get a visual for a second) out of his bad one. Dr B noticed a few little aneurysms but didn't seem too concerned. He recalled the hemorrhage (that led to the vitrectomy) several years ago, but he didn't indicate that he thought we'd have a situation like that again. He scheduled the next appointment for three months. I so thought we'd be at six months or greater at this point in the journey, but I know it could be worse.

This was the kids' last week of summer, so they got to do a few fun things! We took a friend skating one day {gotta love $2 admission & $2 hot dog/drink combos!} Both of the kids had back-to-school events at the church. Cody spent the night with a friend after his & got to go to a movie the next day. Elly had spent the night with Kiya that same night. Then Kiya spent the next two nights with us, including the night of the Throwback Brouhaha:

{that's Kiya on the left}

Oh yes, I said Throwback Brouhaha. More on that another time, but I'll clue you in with this: Pep Squad outfit & letter jacket.

I had a super fun girl day today! Laura, Michelle, & I went to Le Garage Sale and did several Austin-y things that I'll tell y'all more about later!

Tenth Avenue North released a new album called The Struggle this week. I haven't bought it yet, but I've been listening to some of it online. The title track is so good! If you didn't watch the lyric video, you totally should!

Hallelujah, we are free to struggle.
We're not struggling to be free.
Your blood bought us and makes us children.
Children, drop your chains and sing!

Oh, it's so good, y'all! I also love the bridge:

Hallelujah, death is overcome and we are breathing,
Hallelujah, our stone hearts become flesh that's beating,
Hallelujah, chains have been undone, and we are singing,
Hallelujah, the fire has begun. Can you feel it?

Alrighty, I better go to bed! I hope your weekend is super! ♥

"Block of Ice"

(by Thee Oh Sees) Block of Ice - The Master's Bedroom Is Worth Spending a Night In

Block Of Ice by Thee Oh Sees on Grooveshark

I promised you pictures & videos this week, and today the promise is fulfilled! :) Well actually, it's just one video. Each clip was pretty short, so I combined them into one. I hope you're OK with that! Anyways, after our final student Bible study of the summer, we took the students ice blocking! It was super fun, and I have pictures & stuff to prove it...
{they played a little "Wade Ball" on ice, too!}

And now for the video! {I've never claimed to be a professional videographer. I'm sure this could've been done way better by someone who knows what they're doing! But it is what it is...}

{Please let me know if the video doesn't work! I was having issues with my computer, but Cody could see it on the computer upstairs...}

Have you ever been ice blocking? If not, what's your favorite modus operandi for sliding down a hill?

"Love is Waiting"

(by Brooke Fraser) Love Is Waiting - Albertine

Love is Waiting by Brooke Fraser on Grooveshark

As I've mentioned before, my beautiful cousin Kendra got married a couple of weeks ago! If we're fb friends, you may have seen some of the pictures she posted from the wedding. I don't know if y'all could see any of the ones I wasn't tagged in, though. So without further ado, here are a few of my favorite pictures from Kendra & Jason's wedding day...

& if you'd like to see more, you can watch this slideshow:

Kendra is my most favorite cousin in the whole wide world, and I was so honored to be a part of her big day! I don't know if I mentioned this before, but I had secretly hoped to be in her wedding one day. Even if I served cake or punch, I had hoped that she would include me. So to be her Matron of Honor truly was such a pleasure! She is so very special to me. I am so proud of the beautiful woman {inside & out} that she has become, and I love her SO much. I am so incredibly happy for her & Jason! ♥

"Thank You"

(by Mozella, but covered by Abby Baker!!) <~ how awesome is that?!

Abby Baker posted two new videos this week!! I already used one of the songs for my birthday post {so I updated it to include the full song, for those of you who might happen across it again one day!} So I thought I'd post this one today. Seriously, Abby Baker singing a Mozella song?! Yes, please! ΓΌ

Before I forget, I wanted to update you on Kirby! I communicated with a couple of y'all via email, but I completely forgot to update the rest of y'all. His surgery went well! They removed the mass & didn't see any other suspicious tissue. He is out of the hospital & could still use some prayer as he recovers.

My week was fun! One event occurred that I've decided to write a whole post about. There will be plenty of pictures & a few videos, so it'll be a little more interesting than today's post! Elly & I did a little back-to-school shopping & scored some great deals! The kids & I saw The Odd Life of Timothy Green with Amy & Alex yesterday. Laurien came over one day, and we made some peanut butter & chocolatey goodness!

I got the list of moms who will be at my MOPS table this year!! I have to keep it a secret until the first meeting, which is two weeks away. I'm not sure if I can do it! ;) No, I think I can, but it'll be hard! I really want to be a better mentor than I have been before. Can I be completely honest with y'all? I feel like I'm happy with the moms at my table, but they may feel disappointed to not get someone with a little more experience as a mom. We have some new mentors that have grown children. To steal Marcie's phrase, I can get you to age 13. That's all! We won't really know how well I've done as a mom until they've made it through college, at least! I know that the main thing is that I've made it through the preschool years, so I hope that's enough to benefit my moms somehow!

Strange little story...While back-to-school shopping with my baby girl, and she asked if we could go to Panera for lunch. As we were walking inside, I realized that the last time we had been to that particular location was when we were doing some back-to-school shopping last year. Then I realized that it was the day I broke the front license plate off my van. Guess where my van was at that particular the shop, finally getting her license plate back on! I thought that was a weird little coincidence! :)

Sooo...I got some incredibly exciting news last week! It only affects those of you who go to church with me, but I'm telling all of you because I'M SO EXCITED about it!! My friend Kim is moving back!!! She moved nearly three years ago (as I briefly mentioned back then), and it was sad. It won't be until next summer, but it doesn't matter when because all that matters is the fact that MY FRIEND KIM IS MOVING BACK!!!! She sent me an email with the news, and I was so excited that I wrote an entire paragraph in all caps with lots & lots of exclamation points! Her son Isaac was good friends with my sweet boy, so I told Cody, "I have some good news. Don't get too excited because it's still a year away, but guess.who's.moving.back!" His first (& only) guess was Isaac! Then on Sunday, I saw our mutual friend Mel in the lobby at church. When I asked if she had heard from Kim, she gave me a knowing look. We squealed like little girls & hugged each other. I'm sure we looked silly, but we didn't care! Did I tell y'all that my friend Kim is moving back?! :)

Alrighty, I've got to finish up some things around the house before heading to a BBQ with our Community Group! I hope y'all are having a super great weekend!! ♥

"Flat Tire"

(by Albert King) Flat Tire (Single Version) - The Very Best of Albert King

Flat Tire by Albert King on Grooveshark

I mentioned a little delay on the way home from my brother's house on Saturday. Again, this could've been summed up in a sentence or two, but I'm not good at that. Plus, Cody took pictures. And it has been a little while since I've posted a MIShap or anything in my:

We were driving home from my nephew's birthday party when I heard a sound coming from Silvie's front tire. She wasn't driving funny, but I knew that helicopter sound. So we pulled over, & sure enough... {my title probably gave that away, huh?}

There was still enough air to drive about a block to a gas station where Chris jacked the van up & started loosening the bolts. One of them didn't want to come off & was getting stripped. We decided to drive to an auto shop nearby, but by that time it was completely out of air! :/

So we hobbled over to a better spot & put our thinking caps on...Fortunately we were only about 15 minutes from Wheeler's {he's my friend Felicity's husband who I called when Silvie had some issues before!} While we waited for his assistance, Chris decided to jack the van back up so she'd be all set when Wheeler got there. Only this time, I forgot to set the parking brake.
{ya, nice...Chris texted the picture to Wheeler real quick & said something along the lines of, " might want to bring a jack!"}

Wheeler arrived with an air compressor & every tool imaginable...

...& an umbrella! {My kids were quite impressed with this. I actually have an umbrella in my van at all times, but it never crossed my mind to use it...}

Anyways...the guys put the spare tire on, and we finally got home hours later than we should've. We took Silvie to the shop the other day, and she got herself a new set of tires, a new headlight, AND she finally got her front license plate put back on (only a year or so after she lost it)! How about that?!

Have you had any car troubles recently? Any crazy flat tire experiences??

(by Donavon Frankenreiter) Butterfly - Donavon Frankenreiter

Butterfly by Donavon Frankenreiter on Grooveshark

Y'all may remember when I posted butterfly metamorphosis pictures (a couple of stages, at least)...I really, really, really wanted to see one during the time when the chrysalis is clear, and you can see the butterfly inside of it. I had been keeping my eye on a chrysalis in my garden, and last night I could tell it was beginning to change. Unfortunately, I didn't see it in time this morning. :/ BUT, I managed to get a few pictures of the butterfly emerging from the chrysalis. I almost missed it completely, though!

Just 20 minutes later, the wings had uncurled quite a bit!

& now it has flown away! I'm glad I saw it when I did, but I'd still love to see it all folded up inside its chrysalis. Maybe one day!

On a completely different note, I'd like to ask for your prayers once again. If you happen to read this any time soon, please pray for my sweet cousin Kirby. He is in surgery right now & will be until possibly around 1:00 CST. This is his final surgery, and it won't be as long as his last one. But it is very serious. They are removing a mass from his chest cavity, along his lung & behind his heart. Thank you, friends. I know that you don't know him, but he & his family are very dear to me.
