"Give Me Faith"

(by Elevation Worship)

I've been listening to a little Elevation Worship this week. Trend rebel that I can be sometimes, I sorta resisted listening to them for awhile. But it's stupid, really, because I like what I've heard. Why do I resist this sort of thing? Anyways, they have some good stuff, so you should totally check them out. My favorite part of today's song is the bridge:

I may be weak
But Your Spirit's strong in me
My flesh may fail
But My God, You never will

My week was a little more exciting than usual since I only worked two days. One "exciting" part was another little incident with Silvie in the freezing rain this time. I was still in the parking lot at work when my power steering locked up, the windshield wipers stopped, the radio powered off, and the battery light turned on. Then everything suddenly started working again, so I headed home. Four different warning lights intermittently turned on & off along the way, and she kept trying to die. I prayed that I would make it to the shop, and I made it! Seriously, y'all, there's one area where I never get three green lights in a row, yet I did that day!

I already mentioned that we went to my brother's for Thanksgiving, which was also my dad's birthday! He & Chris came, but Aaron was working on something for school. Wendy's parents, grandparents, and aunt & uncle came as well. I ate way too much food, of course! Kerry actually suggested taking pictures with his "twin", so I thought I'd share a few with you...

He also {willingly} took a couple of pictures with my baby girl:

I think they were trying to squinch in this one :D

& here's my sister-in-law Wendy with Elly, too:

I didn't get any pictures with my niece or nephews because they're my brother's kids. We figure if it took Kerry nearly 40 years to be OK having his picture taken, then we probably have awhile before they'll be willing!

The kids & I decorated the Christmas tree yesterday, but we didn't watch Elf until tonight. We usually watch it after we do the tree on the day after Thanksgiving, but Elly went to the movies with a friend. I wouldn't normally break with tradition like that, but her friend's step-mom just passed away. He & his mom were looking for a distraction & invited Elly to join them. I also had to go up to the church for a little while, and we were gone at different times.

I am super excited to say that my beautiful cousin Kendra & her husband Jason are expecting a baby!!!!! She called me yesterday to talk about summer plans, which I thought seemed a little early until she said that I needed to come and see her in June! Because I'm pretty smart, I guessed what she was hinting about! :) Eeeeeeeeee! This baby will be like a niece or nephew to me, so I'm planning on doing some spoiling! Auntie Amy is SO looking forward to that! ;)

I have a couple of posts {with pictures!} in the works and hope to get them done before I leave for India in nine days!! I may schedule them for while I'm gone so y'all don't miss me too much! ;)

I hope y'all are having a super great weekend! ♥

"Christmas Camel Song"

(by Marcus DeLoach)

Who knew such a song existed?! It seemed pretty perfect for this little post in my almost forgotten:

If you've seen my horribly done iPhone video on Instagram or Facebook (the one where I filmed my computer screen with a combination of regular photos & G+ Auto Awesome photos), then you're already aware of my latest little MIShap. I was finally able to get pictures off my camera, so what better story than this one to celebrate that?!

We were at my brother's for Thanksgiving yesterday, and we brought my camera so we could possibly get a family photo for Christmas cards. Wendy suggested going to their neighbor's farm and trying to get a picture with the camel.

A camel in our Christmas card photo? Yes, please!

As you'd guess, Humphrey wasn't the most cooperative...

He kept trying to eat the fence...

He turned to the wrong side (where you couldn't see his Santa hat)...

He tried to hide behind us for a little while. Then --the little tricksters that they are-- the donkey and camel conspired together to ruin the picture. I guess they thought it'd be funny if the donkey butt was in our picture while the camel photobombed us...

Then, both animals got a little too friendly. And my awesome sister-in-law managed to catch it all in pictures!! Cody & Chris were appalled at the quality of the video that I posted last night, so Chris made an animated gif for y'all (that is way better)...

I seriously thought the camel was only planning on nuzzling me a little like the donkey did! But no, he got ahold of my hair! He only pulled a few out, but he left his disgusting slobber behind! While a normal family could take Christmas photos, even with a camel, and they'd turn out fine...not so when I'm involved!

"Don't Forget His Love"

(by Ellie Holcomb) Don't Forget His Love (Psalm 108) - Magnolia

So...as usual, I don't have time to blog, and I don't have much to blog about. I'd love to tell y'all about seeing Drew Holcomb and the Neighbors, but I want to show y'all pictures, too. My computer is messed up, and I don't know how to get pictures from my camera without my computer. When I get that figured out, I will tell y'all about the concert! :) Speaking of Mr. Holcomb, today's song is one of his wife's songs that I've posted before. It's pretty super! :)

As for my week, it was mostly the same old stuff. Friday was fun, though! {Well...except for the typhoid vaccine injection. That wasn't fun...} I met up with some friends for lunch, and we had our traditional empanada dinner with Dan & Amanda's family! :) And because I took some pictures on my phone, this post isn't completely pictureless!

{I'm pretty sure that's the longest fry I've ever seen!}

I hope y'all have a super great week & a wonderful Thanksgiving! ♥

"Grateful for Your Love"

(by Ellie Holcomb)

I'm sorry that I don't have a song for you to listen to today, but you can hear a sample on iTunes. I tried to find the song for you, and I didn't want to pick something different just to have a song. You should totally buy it so you can hear the whole thing. It's so good! I'm going to see Ellie tonight! I'm sure she won't do this song, because it's actually Drew Holcomb and the Neighbors that I'm going to see. But y'all know that I'm really going for Ellie! :)

Aside from a heavy heart due to the loss of my cousin, I had a really nice week. My dad and brother went to the funeral, but it was just the wrong day for me to be able to make it work. If it had been on Friday, I would've been free and clear because I had a full two days without any legitimate responsibility. Chris and the kids were on a retreat with the youth group, and I decided not to go because I didn't want to do that to my kids. Seriously, who wants both of their parents on a retreat?! So I ended up with the house to myself for the weekend (plus most of Friday), which is something that hasn't happened in a loooong time! At first, I literally didn't know what to do with myself (as in, just myself)! But I managed to fill my time nicely...

...ate lunch with a girl in my Growth Group!

...did a tiny bit of shopping

...stopped by the store to pick up some sushi {which ended up being enough for three meals}

...drank an entire Wild Cherry Pepsi by myself {as Elly would say to this particular item, "YOLO" <~ she doesn't say this much, but there's a little back story...I generally don't drink cokes except for at dinner, and even then I split it with one of the kids. One afternoon recently, I had asked if either one of them wanted to split one with me, and neither one responded. So I said, "I guess I could save it for one of you later...or just drink it all myself." As if I was doing something wild and crazy, Elly said, "Just do it, Mom. YOLO." ΓΌ}

...shut all the blinds {because I'm a little creeped out when I'm home alone at night}

...tried on a bunch of beautiful tunics that a friend from India is letting me borrow for my trip!

...had my PJs on by 6:00pm on Friday night & watched a couple of movies {one that I probably shouldn't have watched while home alone + one that wasn't scary at all!}

...started re-knitting a hat for Laurien {that I had originally started before my wrist acted up in the Spring, I think. I lost my place, so I had to start over...}

...slept with music on {it's probably safer to hear suspicious noises, but I really don't need to hear every little noise when I'm home alone at night}

...slept until 8:30 on Saturday morning!

...enjoyed some solitude

...only my bed one day {really living on the wild side, huh?}

...stayed in my PJs until 11:00am {Seriously, y'all, I usually wear PJs from maybe 11pm until 5:30am. I basically did that in reverse on Friday/Saturday!}

...didn't cook anything {unless you count the water I boiled for hot tea}

...left the bucket of Halloween candy on the island & grabbed a piece almost every time I walked by

...didn't brush my hair or teeth until 11:00am {tmi? just keepin' it real...}

...did a little Christmas shopping

...completed two projects at a "Pinterest Party" at my friend's house

...ate ice cream for dinner :)

...went to a game night at another friend's house

...won the first round of Apples to Apples {I had a feeling that Sherri would think that new shoes were magical, and what do you know...she didn't even read the rest of the cards after she saw mine!}

...watched some really random TV shows

...did my usual Sunday routine at church

So, I didn't really do a whole lot of exciting stuff, but it was nice. How was your weekend?

"May the Words"

(by Ellie Holcomb)

I can't believe I haven't posted anything from Ellie Holcomb's latest album! If you haven't listened to it yet, you totally should! I get to see her {& Drew, though most people would probably refer to them as Drew Holcomb and the Neighbors} soon!!

Oh the heavens declare what You have done
And the dark is chased away by the rising sun
But even in the darkest nights, the stars shine on
Creation sings redemption's song

I'd like to say that I'll try to blog more in the coming days, but I really don't see myself being able to find the time. I may end up making a quick trip to New Mexico for a funeral, so I'd have even less time for blogging than usual. If you think of it, please pray for my extended family. My cousin passed away suddenly, leaving behind a wife and two young daughters.

As for my week...in addition to the usual stuff like work, growth group, and the chiropractor, we had dinner with one of Christopher's co-workers and his new wife one night, and a group of ladies from church hosted a baby shower for our worship leader's wife! I looked through the pictures that I took on my phone this week. Aside from randomness and 2 different kinds of homemade bread from Mallory, this  was the only one I thought you'd care to see:

I hope y'all have a super great week! ♥

"Here I Am to Worship"

(sung by Rebekka Abedini)

I'm asking for your help today. I mentioned that Naghmeh Abedini came to our church at the end of September, but I only wrote a small paragraph and posted this picture of her interview with Marcie:

Now the situation is extremely urgent.

In case you're unaware of his story, you can read it here. Briefly, To sum it up...Saeed is an American husband, father, and pastor who was imprisoned in one of Iran's toughest prisons simply for sharing his Christian faith. He has now been moved to an even more dangerous prison. It is one that is full of murderers and is known as a place where prisoners are sent to "disappear".

A new round of diplomatic talks between Iran and world leaders begins tomorrow, and Saeed must be a part of these talks.

Please, please, please sign this petition for immediate intervention (it's different than what I posted a month ago). Then, please share it on facebook, tweet about it, post it on Instagram, etc. And of course, please PRAY! Please do anything and everything possible to help him! Naghmeh told me today that she appreciates what I am doing, but I am doing so little. If you join forces with me, we can do so much more!

Thank you! ♥

"Hope"

(by Superchick)

This has been a good week! We've had a lot of rain and some beautiful days as well, both of which were needed around here! :) There hasn't been a whole lot of exciting stuff going on, but the usual stuff keeps us busy enough! Aside from the extra hour of sleep that I'm about to enjoy, the only other exciting part of the week has been costume related: Scavengerween & Halloween! I didn't think to ask Amy to email me pictures from her house on Thursday night, but here's a shot of my kids at the church on Wednesday:

{ftr, Cody didn't win...but Elly did!}

This next statement probably shouldn't be coming from someone my age, but I'm a little bit sorrowful about the release of Superchick's last album. There was a very sad delay in the production of it, which I mentioned in a blog post this summer. That post was about a month before they announced the end of the band:

So this week, I received the new album with both excitement and a little bit of heartache. I've been a fan since their first album. As someone who has either been a teenage girl or worked with them for the last 25 years, I appreciate what Superchick has done for so many young women {OK, and old ones, too!} But I am sad to see the end and know that there won't be any more songs from them. Speaking of songs, I don't really know what I've listened to the most this week. But I love what today's song is about: HOPE! I'll close with my favorite lines...

When the dark is all you see
Light, light, light up with belief
Live your life each day you're down
Like you're found
Even through the darkest night
Reach, reach out to find the light
Live your life each day you're down
Like you're found

I hope you're having a super great weekend! ♥
