"Oh How I Need You"

(by All Sons & Daughters)

I've had a great week & hope you have, too!

As most of you know from fb, Christopher's scans were clear! My only bit of concern was that he mentioned a spot on the liver that we had been watching, but it was the same size as his last scan. I had no idea that we were watching a spot on the liver...I'm guessing the radiologist was watching it, but maybe Dr L hadn't read the radiologist's notes last time? Whatever the case, it hasn't changed so I shouldn't be concerned! What's super great is the fact that the doctor is totally fine with scanning again in six months (well, actually five, because we already have an appointment in July, and his MA wanted to keep it then). At first he asked if we wanted to move it to yearly, but Chris said that Dr B suggests that we keep doing them every six months for a few more years. Dr L accepted that and went on to say a few things about some promising drugs in the melanoma field. I was going to explain a couple of things here but realize that it wouldn't really mean anything to y'all! Just know that the things he said were evidence that he has done his research. Though I know that there are better doctors out there for OM, I am fine sticking with him for now. As always, thank you for your prayers!

One cool thing happened while we were waiting to get checked in at the hospital...I looked up to see my high school classmate and bridesmaid walking by! In the few seconds that it took my brain to process that it was indeed Kim, she saw me and said my name! She was headed upstairs to see a patient, but she made sure she had my number so she could call me afterward. She ended up calling just after Chris had been taken back for his scans, so she met me in the waiting room and sat with me for a little bit. It has been quite a few years since we've seen each other, so it was great to catch up! :)

The rest of my week was pretty normal...work, Growth Group, chiropractor, track carpool, driving practice with my baby girl {though I must say that does not seem normal!!} and church. I also had a coffee date with my mister, did a little bit of work in my yard, hung out with Laurien {+ a bit of bonus hangout time with Nicole!} and met with my girls for discipleship group.

I don't have any new pictures to show you this week, but I'd hate to disappoint you by not having something for you to look at! Some old church directory pictures were posted on facebook by a lifelong friend who attended the church where my family went during my early years, so I thought I'd share my family picture from 1977:

{We're all so happy to have our picture taken, huh?! And yes, I look like my mom!}

Moving right along...

Today's song is filled with so much goodness!! It really speaks to my desire to abide in Christ. In seeking Him, I find Him. And knowing Him, I can't help but love Him. I definitely need Him when I'm in the midst of trouble. But when I am satisfied in Him, I find that I need Him even more because I realize that I can't do anything without Him. And I certainly can't do anything for His glory without Him! I don't know if that makes sense, but I hope it does (to a degree, at least)! I'll close with my favorite lines:

Lord I find You in the morning
Lord I seek You everyday
Let my life be for Your glory
Woven in Your threads of grace

I hope y'all have a wonderful week! ♥

Amy

P.S. Natalie, I tend to use the word "so" a lot, too! :) I felt like your usage was normal!

"With You Now"

(by Ellie Holcomb)

Wow, y'all...I change my Saturday post to a weekend thing instead, and I still can't seem to post! I ended up with a pretty busy weekend, so I probably should've started early! Since I basically didn't do anything exciting until Friday, I'll just tell y'all about the past few days...

...Baby girl got her driver's permit!

...I had lunch with Amy & Marcie :)

...While waiting for Cody & Tate to be finished with track practice, Elly & I indulged in a sundae at a super cute soda fountain near the kids' schools:

...My family had our traditional Valentine's Waffle House dinner with Clara Belle and my little friend Caleb ♥

...We celebrated said little friend's 3rd birthday on Saturday {I can't believe he's THREE!}

...I took baby girl out for a little driving practice:

...I made some cookies for Christopher & I to take to a little going away party for our friend Tim:

{wow...we're short!}

...We had a Meet & Greet after church on Sunday, where I enjoyed meeting &/or talking with several new members of our church!

...I got sent home from the Meet & Greet with enough meatballs to feed our Community Group (& then some) last night!

That about wraps it up! But one thing happened earlier in the week that is worth mentioning...I received a call from my sweet boy's Texas History teacher. She began the conversation reassuring me that he wasn't sick, injured, or in trouble, which was nice of her to state right off {since a mama's heartbeat always accelerates as soon as she sees that the school is calling!} She went on to say that parents generally just receive phone calls for the reasons she had just mentioned, but rarely do they receive phone calls when a student is doing well. As you've probably already guessed, she was calling because he's doing well! She said that he always does what he's supposed to do and says "yes ma'am" and "no ma'am". She remembers my baby girl and said that we've done well with both of our kids {though I think I just lucked out in the kid department, because I've done plenty to mess things up!} Anyways, I don't mean to sound like I'm bragging, I promise! Since I mainly blog for myself, I wanted to be sure to document this! :)

As far as the song goes...Ellie Holcomb's new album, As Sure as the Sun, comes out on Tuesday!! I got it 8 days before it was released {'cuz I'm cool like that} & have been listening to it basically nonstop. I haven't seen an official video for any of the new songs yet, so I thought I'd post this one instead. I'll close with my favorite part:

When you sing your sad songs, I will learn the words and sing along
When you're in the valley, we'll find the river running through
I'll hold onto you

I hope y'all have a super great week! ♥

"My Love Will Never Stray"

(by Noah feat. Amy Stroup)

This post is brought to you by the number
Despite my infrequent posting lately, I've managed to reach another blog post milestone! How about that?!

More exciting than that is the fact that Christopher's [correct] scan has been approved and scheduled for next Thursday!!! Thanks for praying me through another round of the stupid Pre-Authorization Game.

That's really all I have to say for now. Today's song doesn't relate, but I like it. Hope you do, too! ♥

"The Heart"

(by NEEDTOBREATHE)

I've had a good week and hope y'all have, too! It was mostly just a regular ol' week, but it was nice. Today's song is one of NTB's new ones. It has a fun sound, don't you think?!

I remembered to take pictures of my desk! If I had thought ahead, I would've taken before & after pics. But I didn't. Just imagine an olive green desk with formica (circa 1997), a hutch that was so high you could barely see my tall friend Scott (much less ME, and I'm a foot shorter than said friend), and no storage cabinet. Here's the finished product:

I was going to post the whole Facebook Look Back video thing like everybody else this week, but it made me cry. Three out of four of the most liked posts had to do with stupid cancer. And while they were about scans being clear, it was just a sucky reminder that the dragon is a part of our lives. And I didn't expect [nor want to be reminded of] that when I did it. I hate stupid cancer.

We hosted a group of nine 7th grade boys and a college leader for Disciple Now this weekend! My house is still intact and in fairly decent shape. But Silvie smells like BO, so I need to open all of her doors and air her out for awhile! On a serious note...is was a super great weekend! We had over 120 students from four youth groups in the area. They worshiped the Lord, heard some preaching, ate a bunch of food, had a hoedown(!) and served the community with some mission projects. I didn't take many pictures, but I got this one of Cody & his friends at the service project:

Well, that's all I can think of for now. I hope y'all had a super great weekend! ♥

"Beautiful"

(by Ben Rector)

I've been wanting to post this song for awhile now, but I haven't been posting much of anything, huh? I really want to be better at this, I promise!

So I completely forgot to update y'all on the whole scan situation...It looks like it could take up to 30 days for the appeal process, but I'm not sure when the 30 days will start. When we needed to appeal in the past (which was pretty much every time), the doctor's office started the process as soon as they got the denial letter. They didn't do that this time, though. When Chris realized that and called the insurance company, we had passed the cutoff date for a simple appeal process where the doctor could have done a peer-to-peer review and most likely had the scan approved. So now the doctor has to write a letter. He was going to dictate that last Thursday but still hadn't done it on Monday. We didn't hear anything later in the week, so I have no idea where things stand at this point.

I also forgot to tell y'all that I met with my favorite students for discipleship groups last Sunday. I'm excited about what we'll be studying for the next six months or so! We're reading The Furious Longing of God by Brennan Manning and leading them in studying their identity (which I studied both last summer with some girlfriends and last fall in Growth Groups). Good stuff!

I got a new desk at work last week!! I totally forgot to take a picture, but I'll try to remember to do so this week. It's so pretty! :)

I also got a new leather jacket!! I had a super cute faux leather jacket for years, but it tore apart before Christmas. I looked all over for another one, but I had a hard time finding a replacement. There are black ones everywhere, but I was looking for a dark brown one. Laurien and I went shopping last Sunday, and I managed to find one for 80% off!! I got the following text from her later in the week:

I gave in to the pressure and sent her the following:

{I'm obviously not a pro at selfies or duck face, but I was trying to give her some attitude...}

In celebration of Marcie, I had lunch with my birthday girls on Friday!! We didn't think to take a picture, though :/

Baby girl and I went to my girl Kassie's basketball game on Friday night:

I did a little shopping yesterday! I'm in the process of redecorating the kids' bathroom. Between gift cards, sales, and coupons, I haven't spent much money, which is super because I don't like to spend much money! :) I'm making it India-themed, so it's got a lot of color. I don't plan on painting it, but we'll see if I like how it all comes together with builder's beige walls. I hope to get a couple of things for the walls this week and plan to show y'all a picture next weekend. For now, here's a peek at the shower curtain:

That about wraps it up! I've got to get ready for a "Big Game" party with our Community Group tonight! I hope y'all have a super great week!! ♥
