"Rising Sun (LIVE)"

(by All Sons & Daughters)

Since I'm three days behind on my Saturday post, I don't even know how to label this one. And there was certainly no point in putting my Saturday graphic on here. I don't know what's wrong with me other than the fact that I just haven't had the time to put posts together lately. I miss communicating with y'all, though!

Now for the randomness that my posts usually are...

I am currently sitting at home in my PJs on our second snow ice day in the past five days. I've managed to get some things done around the house and make some brownies, which is super! The weather hasn't been as bad as predicted, but we do have a little ice on the patio table:

Our midweek studies have resumed at church, so I'm meeting with my Growth Group girls again every week. They also came over on Saturday so we could share Life Stories. We only got through four out of ten, even though they were here for seven hours! We ate twice, if that helps explain anything...

Y'all may have already seen this picture on IG or FB, but I thought I'd post it anyways:

The balloons were left over from a photo shoot for our orphans in India, and the notes were from two of my India teammates. I just now realized the India connection, so I thought I'd point it out to y'all! Yes, I still need to tell y'all about it! Now that Nicole has posted a bunch of pics on FB, I guess I'm safe to say a few things that I was unsure about before. I'll work on that post as soon as I can! For now, I can show you the picture that I got to be in on Sunday! It will be on a birthday card for one of my favorite little girls in India:

Poor Silvie sustained some injuries in a minor collision last night. Baby girl and I were coming home from the chiropractor when we were rear-ended while making a u-turn. The guy who hit us was really nice, and a cop saw the whole thing and walked us through the exchanging information process. Nobody was injured, so all is well...though Silvie would probably beg to differ!

Today's video was just posted on YouTube yesterday, so I'm excited to be able to share it with y'all! And I seriously can't believe I haven't posted anything by All Sons & Daughters yet! I'm failing y'all. Seriously. I've got to get back into this blogging thing, because there's so much good music out there! Not that I'm the expert on good music, but I know a few things...Anyways, other than the fact that I was able to post this video, I also chose today's song for the following line as it related to my Growth Group on Saturday:

We lift high His glory
Shown throughout our stories
We praise Him as the children of God

"Dramatic Song"

(by Tobuscus)

I thought I'd post a random Tobuscus video because I don't know of a song that says, "Scans didn't happen today. Sorry, I forgot to tell you..."

I'll keep y'all posted!

"Happy If You Could (DEMO)"

(by NEEDTOBREATHE)

Yes, I'm posting another one of the videos I mentioned last week. Did I tell you that they posted 70+ videos in the last month? No, I don't intend on posting all of them. It's tempting, though. That'd give me Saturday songs to post for the next year & a half... ΓΌ

I appreciate your prayers over the past week. We don't have a resolution yet, but the MA at the oncologist's office said that she would ask Dr L to do a peer-to-peer review with the insurance company. We're waiting to see if that happened (or is going to happen) and if his recommendation is what we hope it is. Chris is scheduled for a CT of his chest on Tuesday, but we'll cancel that if he isn't able to get the abdomen and pelvis as well. I'll keep y'all posted and appreciate continued prayers regarding this!

As for my week, I...

...took Jana's kids to a playdate at Kristi's, where we got to spend some time with Heather (our missionary friend)!

...got to meet Clyde & Nicole's beautiful baby girl! ♥

...went to Ladies' Night Out (with women from my church) and got a bowl of soup that was big enough to feed a family! {OK, maybe not an entire family, but it was huge! Fortunately, Laurien hadn't ordered yet, so she shared it with me!}

...took selfies with Sara on Char's phone & made one of them her wallpaper! :)

...shared crepes with Nicole, Sara, & Julie after LNO

...was off work on Friday, so I got a haircut, had lunch with Kim, and did a little FaceTiming with Sally  in England :)

...played laster tag and broom ball with my favorite students

...saw a high school play (The Wizard of Oz) with my baby girl and ran into around 20 people from church! One of our students was Master Carpenter, and another one was a flying monkey. They did a great job!

...received three unexpected items today at church: Costa Rican coffee from Heather {yum!}, a super cute owl mug from Magaly {just 'cuz she thought I'd like it}, & a half-eaten chocolate bar from the Ukraine {it was given to me by teenage boys, in case you needed an explanation about the half-eaten part!}

...enjoyed catching up with my Community Group family!

I hope y'all have a wonderful week! ♥

"Valley of Tomorrow (LIVE)"

(by NEEDTOBREATHE)

So NEEDTOBREATHE started posting a bunch of videos on the day that I left for India, and I have finally had a chance to check some of them out! They're not official music videos or anything. They're mainly songs from albums with a picture of the album covers & track listings. But there are many songs that I haven't been able to find in order to post for y'all, so that's pretty super! There's also a documentary that's worth watching if you've got an extra 33 minutes or so. As for today's song, it's not the one I listened to the most. As usual these days, I have no idea what that would be. But this is the live version of my favorite song in the whole entire world. This is the song that I liked just fine but fell in love with after seeing NTB in concert for the first time. So anyways, this is the version that I listened to over and over again the entire way to Amy's & back one day. ♥

Before I forget...I'd appreciate prayers for wisdom and direction regarding Christopher's medical oncologist. I'll try to make this brief, because y'all already know most of the situation. We thought things were going well when we were able to schedule scans after six months (instead of waiting for a year, like the doctor had suggested at the last scans). Insurance approved a CT of the chest last week, which we thought was super! Then a few days later, we received a letter saying that they had denied a CT of the abdomen and pelvis. In case you forgot, the first site of metastasis is the liver (roughly 90% of the time, compared to about 5% in the lungs). So it goes without saying that the liver would be the most important place to scan. I never took an anatomy class, but I'm pretty sure the liver is located in the abdomen/pelvis region (not the chest). The medical oncologist would have to say that the abdomen/pelvis CT is necessary in order for insurance to approve the scans, but it looks like he isn't going to do that. We've provided adequate information to him, though he should know this if he's going to treat OM, right? So we're trying to figure out if we should appeal their decision, continue trying to convince the doctor to do the right thing, or switch doctors. Of course, there's no guarantee that a new doctor would cooperate, either. So that's what's going on these days. I tried to make it brief...

As for my week, I...

...dropped my kids off at school for the first time in a month. It was a bit hard getting back into the routine after so long. It almost felt like it does when summer's over!

...reunited with my India team for a debrief one night

...celebrated my sweet boy's birthday with a few of his friends from church:

...attended/hosted a wedding at the church yesterday

...got to share about India with the students today! Aaron heard that I had shared with my small group girls & felt like the rest of the students had been cheated, so he asked if I'd get up in front of everybody today. {Maybe one day I'll tell y'all about India, huh?}

...enjoyed a luncheon for my missionary friends after church today!

...probably did some other stuff, but I can't think of anything else right now!

I hope y'all have a wonderful week! ♥

"I Am a Thoughtful Guy"

(by Rhett & Link)

My sweet boy turns 13 years old today!!

I think I say this every year, but I seriously can't believe it. How do they grow up so fast?! My baby boy is a teenager, y'all!

P.S. He really likes this song and quotes it somewhat regularly. "I am a thoughtful guy. I think about a lot of things..."

"It's Time"

(by Imagine Dragons)

I have no idea what I've been listening to lately. I don't really have a way to Scrobble what I'm listening to anymore. I've been using Google Play at work & on my phone. And in the van, I have one hundred-something of my favorite songs on a thumb drive. Obviously, that can't Scrobble. So I looked at the songs that last.fm says I've listened to over the past month, and today's song was one of the top. I like it, so I figured we'd go with it! Plus it's a new year. And this song is about making changes while staying true to who you are. So consider this a handy little tip from Auntie Amy (with a little help from Imagine Dragons): go ahead and make some changes, but stay true to who you are and (more importantly) who God says you are.

And I'll work on a new title for my weekend posts.

Anyways, this has been a nice week! Sadly, I don't have any pictures to show y'all. I know that posts are way more fun with pics, so I'm sorry about that. Anyways, this week...

...Elly went to her friend Olivia's one night, so we invited Alex to spend the night with Cody. They hadn't had a chance to hang out over the break, so that was great!

...We went over to my friend Sam's house for New Year's Eve! We ate a lot of food and played games with her family, my neighbors, & a few other friends from church. The kids set off a few fireworks, too! There was a minor situation with my friend Christen and some sparklers, but nobody got hurt!

...Because my life is so exciting, I ran errands on New Year's Day! ;) I also went to Nichole's house for coffee in the afternoon, and I spent around two hours telling her about India!

...Cody went to Alex's house one night, and Elly treated her dad & me to a movie! {We finally saw Frozen!}

...Mallory came over last night! We were going to have coffee and knit/crochet, but we didn't drink anything or take out our needles or yarn, and I spent around two hours telling her about India! {Are you sensing a theme here? I promise both of them asked about India and said that they wanted to hear everything!}

...Baby girl & I went shopping today! She had some Christmas gift cards, so I took her to spend some of them!

...We also stopped by World Market, where they were having a sale on tea. I like a few different types of tea from England (mainly Typhoo, PG Tips, and Yorkshire), but they're usually around $7 for 80 bags. When we had a layover in England on the way home, I had planned on stocking up but ran out of time. The situation was redeemed today, though! They had a different box of Typhoo that was $5 for 120 bags, plus it was 50% off. Yay for me! I got six boxes (the limit), and it only cost $15 for 720 bags! Normally that would've cost $63, y'all! Pretty good, huh?

Alright...because I love y'all, I couldn't post this without a picture. I'm sacrificing a bit of my dignity by showing y'all myself without a speck of makeup and making weird faces. Oh ya, and with horrible hair that hadn't been brushed in days. [long story] This is a series of selfies {is it considered a selfie if there are two people?} that Kristin & I took on the first of several flights home from India. I hope this little G+ Auto Awesome pic makes up for the lack of pictures in the rest of the post! ΓΌ

You're welcome.

I hope y'all are having a wonderful weekend! ♥

"Don't Forget His Love"

(by Ellie Holcomb) Don't Forget His Love (Psalm 108) - Magnolia

I seriously can't believe that 2013 is already over! I feel like it was a bit of a whirlwind. Sitting here thinking about the past year for this post, I struggle to even remember what happened before April 17th: the day Bailey went to be with Jesus. It was a tragically sad, pivotal day for my church family and my community. It will forever be one of those marked moments in the history of my life. And if I feel that way, then it only scratches the surface of how Gary, Desiree, Cody, and the rest of Bailey's family feels. I don't mean to start this post all gloomy, but I can't talk about 2013 without talking about Bailey.

But the good and beautiful truth is that God is still God. And He is the same today as He was before Bailey's accident. And He is good despite any and all bad. He is faithful, and He has proven Himself over and over again. He comforts, strengthens, provides, and prevails. He knows. He is near. And He loves completely and intensely. I don't ever want to forget that.

And on that note, I will recap the year 2013...

My sweet boy turned 12 in January & has officially grown taller than his mom. I don't think I'll ever forget the first time he came to kiss me goodbye, and I had to look up. My heart still does a sad little somersault at the thought of my baby boy growing up, but I am absolutely in love with the man he is becoming. He moved up to the youth group this summer, and he has enjoyed being a part of all the activities that his sister & I have been enjoying for years! He started running this year & had a great first cross country season, even medaling at district: 5th place 7th grade boy & 10th or 11th overall!

The winter/spring held a few exciting events...Elly & I went to a Jenny & Tyler House Show, Christopher & I went to a CURE OM conference, the kids & I went on the students' Spring Break mission trip, baby girl & I participated in a color run, and I ran a 5K for my amazing cousin Kirby!

Our summer was super busy! I explained this before, but we only had two out of eleven weeks at home with just our family. I'm not complaining at all, but it really was full! The kids both went to church camp, on a road trip with the students, helped with VBS, & the three of us participated in our local mission trip. We had a couple of houseguests, too...the kids' Uncle Alex and our little British friend Sarah:

Christopher had scans in July, and they were clear! I was incredibly unhappy with the medical oncologist's recommendation to wait a year until his next scan, though. Chris continues to see the ocular oncologist every three months, though I really thought these visits would only be every six months (or even farther apart) by now. Due to my research and the ocular oncologist/expert's recommendation for more frequent scans, we pressed for them at six months and our new insurance company is approving them! The medical oncologist doesn't seem to have a problem with that, though I'm honestly not sure if he's aware that they're happening. I guess we'll see what he has to say in a few weeks!

In addition to the crazy, fun, busy summer schedule, I moved to a new position at work. I still worked basically the same amount of time, but I had added responsibilities. It all worked out, but it was an adjustment! And when school started, the adjusting continued as I began working two more days a week. Again, it has all worked out, but it was a bit more of an adjustment than I had anticipated. I love working at the church, though, & I especially love the people I work with!

My baby girl started high school, which is still hard to believe! She turned 15 in October, which is also hard to believe. This may sound crazy, but I am really enjoying my teenager! She is a sweet girl who I thoroughly enjoy spending time with. The one time I thought she was copping an attitude with me, it turns out I had misheard her {never! <~ that was said in sarcastic font!} Anyways, she is very involved in the youth group and continues to love art. She got to enter two pieces of her artwork into a regional contest where she got great reviews!

During the fall/winter, Elaine & I transformed my room, I almost made it to my 20-year reunionChristopher entered a beard contest (then promptly cut it), we got to see Drew Holcomb and the Neighbors, I went to India, and my dad got married!! {One day I will post about India, but just know that it truly was amazing!}

Google+ made this little highlight video of my year. It's pretty random & not quite what I would've picked if I had put it together, but it's fun nonetheless:

And because I feel the need to have an actual family picture in these posts, I'll close with this:

I hope y'all have a wonderful 2014! ♥
