"Out of Hiding"

(by Steffany Gretzinger)

I actually started this post for last weekend, but I failed to finish it. Though I'm really not trying to make excuses, I'm unable to get my pictures onto Picasa the way I used to, so it takes more time. That's part of my struggle...And then there's just the whole time thing (or lack thereof).

Anyways, some highlights of my last few weeks were...

...celebrating Julie's birthday with my small group girls!

...hosting a book club at my home.

...finding out that Christopher's scans were approved!! <~ I'm in a bit of shock about this one!

...enjoying yummy goodness in Houston with my baby girl ü

...WINNING the first Bowl Games of the summer!

...a day at the beach with my favorite kids! ü

...girls' night at Lindsay's with Laurien, another Lindsay, & the first Lindsay's precious baby girls

...a Skeeters game with the First Impressions Team from church

...trying out a couple of places on a little coffee tour with Laurien {more on this later}

...a meetup with a couple of ocular melanoma ladies for brunch!

...and we were honored to be the first dinner guests at Alex & Lauren's new apartment!

We also took a brief trip to Dallas for Christopher's dad's birthday! I'm planning a separate "Our Friday Thangs" post for the drive up, but in addition to that bit of fun we spent some time with a couple of Christopher's aunts, enjoyed our stay at Dan & Connie's, had breakfast at the coffee bar that is run by our old church...

...& came home with a puppy {more on that later!}

The kids went to church camp in Alabama last week!

While there, Elly won a victory for the women...

And Cody made the news!

Aside from a few things that I'll post about separately, that about sums up the last few weeks. I hope y'all are doing well and have a super great week! ♥

"Friday"

(by Rebecca Black)

It has been so long since I've posted that I didn't even know where to start, so I'm hoping you're happy to see that I'm still alive and will forgive me for posting this song! ;) I have quite a few things to fill you in on, but since it's Friday I thought I'd start with "Our Friday Thangs"...

On the last day of school, I told the kids to start thinking of things that they want to do on my days off this summer. Last summer we tended to sleep in on Fridays and didn't do as much fun stuff as I had hoped. So we have a few things in mind, and I plan on telling y'all about our days. I don't plan on each one being a separate post, but when I have the time and the pictures I'll do it that way. After our first adventure Elly asked me to post the pictures on Facebook, and Cody suggested that I call the album "Our Friday Thangs." So there you have it!

The first day of their summer happened to fall on a Friday, and we all decided to sleep in that day. We all had pretty busy afternoons on the last day of school (exploring The Village and all), and we were up pretty late. We did end up eating out for lunch and went to the mall for awhile. It was a chill, no agenda type of day, and it was nice!

The next Friday, though, we went to the beach! As is our tradition, we stopped at the square donut place on our way...

It was pretty windy, so we didn't go out too far for too long. We love the waves, but we also didn't want to drown...

It has been a long-time dream of Cody's to dig a big hole at the beach. I can't make all of his dreams come true, but this was manageable so I let him bring a legitimate shovel to do that!

Elly {my artist} loves drawing in the sand, so she spent a little bit of time doing that.

As is also our tradition, we headed to Mod Coffeehouse before heading home...

...and we were delighted to discover a cute new ice cream shop right next door!

We spent enough time at the beach to enjoy it, but it wasn't so much time that we got fried and/or totally exhausted. It was a really good day!

We may not do too much today since the kids got back from camp last night and just woke up! But I hope to fill you in on last Friday very soon!!

"Rescue You" {maybe}

(by JOHNNYSWIM)

I have been a complete blogging failure lately, but I really have had quite a bit going on! Three out of the last four Saturdays have involved at least three separate activities, and some of those Sundays have involved one or two things (in addition to three church services in which I usually attend &/or serve). I'm not trying to make excuses; I'm just trying to explain why I haven't had a chance to post on the weekends. And y'all know my weekdays are crazy, too, so it's a struggle! I am hoping to work some shorter days this summer. Of course, the reason I want to do that is so I can be home with my kids. But maybe I'll have time to post a little more, too. No guarantees, but I really do want to post more than my weekend wrap-ups that are basically an online diary for me that probably don't interest y'all at all!

Anyways...

I was grateful and honored to attend this precious miracle's first birthday party last Saturday! He was born with a heart defect and other medical issues, so I mean it when I use the word miracle! ♥

Our family attended a worship team dinner last Saturday night, and there was a jam session afterward!

There was a wedding rehearsal and graduation party {for Haley -- picture fail!} on the same Saturday, and my sweet boy made me an iced coffee before I headed out the door to go from one thing to the next, to the next! I love that he included a couple of miniature Reese's cups! ü

In my last post I mentioned the large amount of graduates in our youth group this year. I think I've attended at least seven graduations &/or parties so far (& I've increased that number a couple of times while composing this post, because I kept remembering more!), and I have at least a couple to go! Though my weekends have been a bit hectic with the extra stuff (recitals and weddings), the extra money has been helpful in budgeting for graduation gifts!! :)

Julie & I attended sweet Katie's graduation and party last weekend. Funny story...her mom was our church's preschool director when we first moved here (nearly eleven years ago!!), and Cody called her "Mista Resa" (instead of "Ms. Teresa")! How adorable is that?! ü

My family attended Rachel's...

...and Amelia's graduation parties today!

In other news...I traded patio tables with my friend Nichole, and I'm quite happy with the trade! I feel like my old table and chairs took up a bit too much space, especially with a good-sized grill out there. Rather than freshening up the set after sprucing up my glider, I planned on giving it away and possibly getting a little bistro set eventually. I mentioned it to Nichole when we were at their house for dessert last month, and she was interested in a trade. My set was special to me because it was given to me by my friend Amy, and hers was special for a similar reason. We are both glad to have these sets in each others' possessions now, because we both value them (if that makes sense). I think it worked out perfectly for both of us! :)

Even though I've already posted a picture of my glider and stuff, I thought it'd be good to post one again so you can see how the pillows coordinate! :)

We also installed a fan out there, so I will definitely get to enjoy my patio/sanctuary this summer!

Speaking of summer...it's officially here!! My kids finished school on Thursday! Both of the kids went to friends' houses after school, and Cody & I went exploring on our way home. I had looked at a map earlier in the day and saw a street nearby that I never knew existed. When I told Cody about it, he was intrigued and wanted to explore with me. We may have discovered a way to The Village, but we'll probably never know for sure! ;) We stopped to take a photo to remember our adventure and may or may not have taken 100 of them because we couldn't seem to take the perfect one...

I hope y'all are having a fun start to your summer!! ♥
