"Together at Christmas"

(by moe.)

Together AT Christmas by moe. on Grooveshark

I don't know why I picked the song for today, but I sorta like it. I know that Christmas is over, but I'm about to talk about Christmas. Good enough reason, no? We have actually finished our Christmas gatherings already! I'd say it's a record, but I don't think it actually counts since we didn't go to Dallas or anywhere. But we have seen a mixture of my family (my dad & his new wife, my brother & his family, and my mom & G) on at least three separate occasions over the past week. That's pretty impressive considering the fact that it has taken until mid-January to accomplish that in prior years. I didn't take pictures at Dad's or Mom's, but the laser tag girl took a picture of us when we hung out with my brother's family on Thursday:

And because I haven't posted any pictures from Christmas morning yet, here you go...

I still have much to say about my trip to India, but I came home with a horrible cold in addition to the jet lag from which I am still trying to recover. I fully intend to tell you everything that I can about India. It just may take a little while. It also may take several posts, but I need the time to sit down and write them.

I hope y'all are having a super great weekend! ♥

"Baby Boy"

(by for KING & COUNTRY)

I have quite a bit to share with y'all, but I've been going ever since I got back from India! I didn't want this day to pass without posting something, though I usually post pictures from Christmas morning. I haven't had a chance to go through them yet, because we spent the afternoon with Dad & his new wife! I'll try to find some time to sort through pictures and compose some posts about Christmas & India. Until then, I hope you and your family are doing well! Merry Christmas!! ♥

I've posted about this day a time or two...

It's International Answer the Phone like Buddy the Elf Day!!

Since I'm out of the country & won't be answering the phone, I'd like to live vicariously through you today. Will you do it? For me? If you do, please let me know what you said & the caller's reaction!

I'll be traveling all day today & tomorrow and would certainly appreciate your prayers for safe travels! ♥

"Labor of Love"

(by Andrew Peterson)

Labour Of Love by Andrew Peterson on Grooveshark

Because I would totally be at Behold the Lamb of God this evening if I wasn't out of the country, I thought I'd post this super great song from the tour. I meant to tell y'all about it sooner so y'all could try to go. In case you don't remember, I went last year. And it was amazing! I'm sure this tour is even better, because this year's special guest is Ellie Holcomb! I have no regrets about going to India, but I am a little sad to miss this!

"Good Light"

(by Drew Holcomb and the Neighbors)

finally have a chance to tell y'all about Drew Holcomb and the Neighbors!!

The concert came about because my mister wanted to see David Ramirez, and David just so happened to be opening for Drew Holcomb and the Neighbors. So it was a win-win situation! And because seeing a band when they're in Houston often proves difficult (see The Reliques and NTB), we ended up going to College Station. {No ticket this time, Sloan!}

Though I really wasn't going for David Ramirez, I do like some of his stuff. And he puts on an amazing concert. His voice is so strong (which happens to be the word he saying in the picture below):

And because I have a brief [but horrible quality] video of him singing the song, I'll let you hear it:

The lyrics of his songs wove a story throughout the concert. It really was SO good!

And, of course, Drew Holcomb and the Neighbors were amazing!!

We managed to catch the last show of the Good Light Tour...

...which is why I picked the song for today's post! Here's a little clip {but obviously you can hear the whole song if you play the video at the top of this post!}:

I like Drew...

Though I think I've told you before that I'm a bigger fan of Ellie :)

I really do love their harmonies, though...

And I love the way they interact with each other :)

It really was super, and you should totally try to see them if they're ever in concert near you! ♥

"Either Way"

(by Abby Baker)

This post will be brief because I'm getting ready to go to India, and I'm exhausted! I'm not exhausted because I'm getting ready to go to India. I'm just trying to get my stuff packed so I have a couple of days to realize if I've forgotten something, and I need to get back to it. I'm exhausted because I am not disciplined enough to leave my friend's house at a reasonable time of night, and I'm still paying for it three days later! I had dinner with my Growth Group girls the other night (which was super!), and Kristi asked if I'd stop by her house on the way home. She wanted to pray for me before I leave for India (because she's awesome like that!), so I got to her house around 9:30 or so. I know you won't believe this {ha!} but we didn't pray until after midnight! I had every intention of leaving shortly after that, and I really didn't think that we talked that much longer afterward. But when I got inside my house, I discovered that it was 1:45! Yikes!! And she has four littles at her house. I feel bad about that, but I promise I wasn't the only one talking! Ü

There are probably other things worth mentioning, but I can't think of them right now. I've got to get back to packing and go to bed. But Abby Baker posted a new video this week, and I posted it for y'all to hear! Yay!! I'm hoping to finish up a few posts before I leave. If we don't communicate before then, I'll talk to you in a couple of weeks! ♥

"The Face That I Make. A Picture Song."

(by Nice Peter)

Today's song is slightly inappropriate, but it's funny and somewhat relates to my post (but not really)...

I thought I'd show y'all a few of our Christmas photo outtakes. You may have seen a few of them in my Christmas Camel post, but I thought they were worth re-posting! :)

This is when the camel was embarrassed about his Santa hat:

Photobombing Camel:

Oh, hey there, donkey!

Random posing in the middle of the donkey nuzzling:

Trixie knew that Pepper was unavailable for family photos, so she tried to fill in. Either that, or Kerry wanted to be in our picture so desperately that he prompted her to stand in for Pepper so he'd have to get her:

{that was obviously a joke, in case you don't remember how Kerry feels [felt?] about pictures!}

This an outtake for two obvious reasons: 1) my hair was pretty messed up after the camel tried to eat it, and 2) we were posing like Cody usually does*

*Ironically, Cody is the only one not posing in this picture...He was laughing at us making fun of him by trying to do his photo pose. He does it all the time and was gracious enough to reenact it for me in the following video:

Moving right along...

Then there are a few that were fine but just didn't make the cut:

I like myself better in a couple of the others, mainly because my hair is less messed up! But we felt like the family as a whole looked the best in the following picture, so we used it for our Christmas cards:

And here is the final product (the actual card is better quality, but this is the best I could do to show y'all):

"Give Me Faith"

(by Elevation Worship)

I've been listening to a little Elevation Worship this week. Trend rebel that I can be sometimes, I sorta resisted listening to them for awhile. But it's stupid, really, because I like what I've heard. Why do I resist this sort of thing? Anyways, they have some good stuff, so you should totally check them out. My favorite part of today's song is the bridge:

I may be weak
But Your Spirit's strong in me
My flesh may fail
But My God, You never will

My week was a little more exciting than usual since I only worked two days. One "exciting" part was another little incident with Silvie in the freezing rain this time. I was still in the parking lot at work when my power steering locked up, the windshield wipers stopped, the radio powered off, and the battery light turned on. Then everything suddenly started working again, so I headed home. Four different warning lights intermittently turned on & off along the way, and she kept trying to die. I prayed that I would make it to the shop, and I made it! Seriously, y'all, there's one area where I never get three green lights in a row, yet I did that day!

I already mentioned that we went to my brother's for Thanksgiving, which was also my dad's birthday! He & Chris came, but Aaron was working on something for school. Wendy's parents, grandparents, and aunt & uncle came as well. I ate way too much food, of course! Kerry actually suggested taking pictures with his "twin", so I thought I'd share a few with you...

He also {willingly} took a couple of pictures with my baby girl:

I think they were trying to squinch in this one :D

& here's my sister-in-law Wendy with Elly, too:

I didn't get any pictures with my niece or nephews because they're my brother's kids. We figure if it took Kerry nearly 40 years to be OK having his picture taken, then we probably have awhile before they'll be willing!

The kids & I decorated the Christmas tree yesterday, but we didn't watch Elf until tonight. We usually watch it after we do the tree on the day after Thanksgiving, but Elly went to the movies with a friend. I wouldn't normally break with tradition like that, but her friend's step-mom just passed away. He & his mom were looking for a distraction & invited Elly to join them. I also had to go up to the church for a little while, and we were gone at different times.

I am super excited to say that my beautiful cousin Kendra & her husband Jason are expecting a baby!!!!! She called me yesterday to talk about summer plans, which I thought seemed a little early until she said that I needed to come and see her in June! Because I'm pretty smart, I guessed what she was hinting about! :) Eeeeeeeeee! This baby will be like a niece or nephew to me, so I'm planning on doing some spoiling! Auntie Amy is SO looking forward to that! ;)

I have a couple of posts {with pictures!} in the works and hope to get them done before I leave for India in nine days!! I may schedule them for while I'm gone so y'all don't miss me too much! ;)

I hope y'all are having a super great weekend! ♥

"Christmas Camel Song"

(by Marcus DeLoach)

Who knew such a song existed?! It seemed pretty perfect for this little post in my almost forgotten:

If you've seen my horribly done iPhone video on Instagram or Facebook (the one where I filmed my computer screen with a combination of regular photos & G+ Auto Awesome photos), then you're already aware of my latest little MIShap. I was finally able to get pictures off my camera, so what better story than this one to celebrate that?!

We were at my brother's for Thanksgiving yesterday, and we brought my camera so we could possibly get a family photo for Christmas cards. Wendy suggested going to their neighbor's farm and trying to get a picture with the camel.

A camel in our Christmas card photo? Yes, please!

As you'd guess, Humphrey wasn't the most cooperative...

He kept trying to eat the fence...

He turned to the wrong side (where you couldn't see his Santa hat)...

He tried to hide behind us for a little while. Then --the little tricksters that they are-- the donkey and camel conspired together to ruin the picture. I guess they thought it'd be funny if the donkey butt was in our picture while the camel photobombed us...

Then, both animals got a little too friendly. And my awesome sister-in-law managed to catch it all in pictures!! Cody & Chris were appalled at the quality of the video that I posted last night, so Chris made an animated gif for y'all (that is way better)...

I seriously thought the camel was only planning on nuzzling me a little like the donkey did! But no, he got ahold of my hair! He only pulled a few out, but he left his disgusting slobber behind! While a normal family could take Christmas photos, even with a camel, and they'd turn out fine...not so when I'm involved!
