"The Fullness"
(by Lovelite)
Overall, this week has been really good! I do, however, have a prayer request: my amazingly awesome cousin Kirby has been diagnosed with stupid cancer. He had surgery to remove a tumor on Monday, and he starts chemo this week. His faith is very strong, and God has given him peace. I just want to ask you to join me in prayer as he starts chemo. Thank you, friends!
As for the happier parts of my week...I think I was gone every night this week! It's not always that way, & I probably should've thought it through before making a couple of plans. But I had several free days, so it wasn't overwhelming or anything! I met a friend for coffee Monday night, and it was so good to hang out with her. We had been meeting up on a weekly basis, but the past month has been crazy. So it had been over a month since we had gotten together. That's way too long! Then on Tuesday night, we had a ladies' event at church. I could probably write a whole blog post about all of the great stuff that the speaker had to say. She is a potter, and she walked us through the pottery process, related it to our heavenly potter, then gave her testimony. Her message tied in with a lot of stuff that God is walking me through right now, so I'm so glad that I went! Our regular midweek studies were on Wednesday night, and I'm so sad that next week is our last meeting of the year! :( On Thursday night, MOPS hosted our 2nd Annual "Sip & Shop" (holiday market). We Mentor Moms took turns sitting at the MOPS table, and my friend Laurien kept me company while I took my turn! :) Last night, Cody had a church event. After dropping the boys off, we went to dinner & coffee with Wade and Amy. Well, Chris & I had coffee, and Wade, Amy & Elly had hot cocoa. I don't guess I'll ever get Amy to enjoy coffee with me! ;)
I got to babysit my little friends for awhile one day this week. While Cody & Clara Belle were doing homework, I was sorta wishing I still had a Kindergartener! It has gotten to the point with both of the kids that I sometimes have to look online to help them with their homework! {& I was a gifted student who was 3rd in my graduating class!! There are just some things that I have forgotten since I finished school, ya know?!} So, weirdo that I am, I took pics to show you the difference in homework:
(She's writing the letter "v", and he's using the EPSE method to solve word problems. Ya, I'd never heard of EPSE either!}
I went to a baby shower today! It was for Michelle, my best friend from middle school...the same one whose wedding shower I went to last year with the disastrous wardrobe situation. As you can imagine, I was a little nervous about what to wear to this shower, because I was afraid I was going to be underdressed again. But I also didn't want to go the opposite extreme & end up overdressed. Add to that the fact that I was going directly from the shower to Bob's Celebration of Life service, and I wasn't going to have time to change. {I wasn't real sure what you're supposed to wear to that, so I looked online. In case you wondered, you're not expected to wear head-to-toe black, but some black is still respectful.} So I went with the dress I got for Kirby's wedding (aka, The Soccer Dress), & it turned out to be appropriate for both occasions.
{Seriously, she just had a baby 8 weeks ago! Doesn't she look great?!}
Lest you think that I pulled that off with class...I was sitting there at the shower & glanced down to see that I still had some remains of this:
In case you can't tell, that's a smiley face made out of Sharpie & burnt flesh. The burn was an accident that occurred earlier in the week. The kids kept telling me it looked like a smile, so I finally let Cody draw "eyes" on my arm Friday afternoon. In case you didn't know, Sharpie is somewhat permanent. Plus, I forgot to actually scrub it. So it hadn't completely faded before the shower this morning. Nice. {If only that were the lone mishap of the day...I've got a story for you next week!! I think you're going to love it!}
As for today's song, it's another Lovelite tune that I've had for awhile now. I've been listening to worship music quite a bit lately, and this one really stood out to me this week. I love the whole song, but if I had to pick a favorite part it would be the second verse:
Here I am full of hope
Not weighed down anymore
Knowing You changes me
Never let me leave
♥
Okey doke, I've got to get some sleep! I hope y'all are having a wonderful weekend!!
