"Blessings"
(by Laura Story)
We're doing a little celebrating today! Yes, it's Labor Day, so most everyone is celebrating! But we're celebrating for another reason as well...Today is Christopher's 4th cancerversary! Though is wouldn't necessarily be considered a happy day, we celebrate the day that we began this journey with the evil dragon. We obviously don't celebrate the fact that he has cancer, but we celebrate the fact that he has survived. Sadly, not everyone can say that they've survived four years with ocular melanoma. We have lost several OM warriors along the way. But I am thankful for the lives they lived, lessons they taught, and the fight they fought alongside us.
Awhile back, I came across this video of the story behind today's song:
I can totally relate to everything she said about this "redefining of the word blessing". The words she spoke that stand out the most to me are at about the 1:45 mark: "There is a blessedness that comes through waiting on the Lord. There is an intimacy in our walk with the Lord that comes through walking through that valley. There's a reliance on His Word that we only know when everything else in life fades away."
So good! And I can totally say along with her that I truly feel like I am blessed.
