"Thank You for Being a Friend"

(by Andrew Gold) Thank You for Being a Friend - Rhino Hi-Five: Andrew Gold - EP

It's been awhile since I've posted one of these. I'd like to call this "Friends' Theme Songs: Scrapbook Friends Edition". Some of these ladies are my closest friends outside of scrapbooking, too, but we came up with the songs at a crop. And since we all scrapbook together, the subtitle seemed like a good idea! As if these posts weren't random enough, I feel like this particular one needs an Extreme Randomness warning. This is a glimpse into what happens at late night crops. And for the record: no alcohol was consumed in the assigning of the songs...

First, there's Felicity. She begged me not to make her song the theme song for the show with her name (but I can totally hear her humming it as I type)! So I came up with a couple of others, neither of which she was happy with! She's a physical trainer, so I thought "Let's Get Physical" would be a great idea. And because of said physical training (& the fact that this song used to be her ringtone), I thought "Your Body is a Wonderland" was quite appropriate! ;) Ultimately, I decided that she needed a Ska song, and I discovered that the OC Supertones did a remake of Veggie Tales' "I Can Be Your Friend"! It's quite perfect for her!

As for Aydee, her song comes complete with interpretive dance moves! I don't even think I could begin to explain why it's is her song, but it has something to do with not being able to go on!

Of course Christina {my tragically hip friend from Canada} had to have a song by The Tragically Hip! :) Her particular song is my favorite one of theirs. Plus I like coffee. Is it OK that I give her a song that's about something I like? Well, I think so. And since this is my blog, I guess I get to make the rules! Maybe she'll think of me when she hears it!

Tammie's song is a really random one by The Do. It has her name in it, so there's no explanation needed. {If only I knew the name of the heavy metal song we found ourselves listening to at 3:00 am at that one retreat! How long did we listen to that station thinking that the other person liked it?!} Since Tammie has moved away (& we're no longer able to scrapbook together), I decided to throw in a couple of other former scrapbooking friends for old time's sake...For Heather, of course it had to be a Simon & Garfunkel song! {dear friend, I love that you think of me when you listen to their Greatest Hits CD!} I almost picked "El Condor Pasa (If I Could)" just because it's in Spanish, but her song is one that I'll hear more often. And I rather think of her more often! :) And then there's Kim ~> she will always hold a special place in my heart!

Even though Jana was unable to make it to the crop where songs were discussed, the three of us did discuss Jana songs {because we love you, & you're a part of things even when you're not there!} Though we didn't come up with one at the time, I have since found one! As you probably know, there aren't as many songs with Jana's name in it as there are mine! One that I found is terrible & doesn't pertain to her one bit, so I won't even say who sings it. As lame as this may sound, I finally decided that she should have an Amy Grant song. Even though we've only known each other for about 6 years, it's like we were high school friends. {Does that make any sense at all?} And Amy Grant was a high school youth group favorite, so I thought this song was fitting. It wasn't available for my little player, so here's a video:

I have one final song for an honorary scrapbook friend: Jana's sister Julie. We both love Relient K, and she used to teach science. So logically, I decided that her song should be the one that mentions Chemistry. ü

Thank you for {once again} enduring my randomness...

Amy
