"Man in the Mirror"

(by Michael Jackson)

"I'm gonna make a change
For once in my life
It's gonna feel real good
Gonna make a difference
Gonna make it right

As I turned up the collar on
A favorite winter coat
This wind is blowin' my mind
I see the kids in the street
With not enough to eat
Who am I to be blind
Pretending not to see their need?

A summer's disregard
A broken bottle top
And a one man's soul
They follow each other
On the wind ya' know
'Cause they got nowhere to go
That's why I want you to know

Chorus:
I'm starting with the man in the mirror
I'm asking him to change his ways
And no message could have been any clearer
If you wanna make the world a better place
Take a look at yourself, then make a change
(Na na na, na na na, na na na na)

I've been a victim of
A selfish kinda love
It's time that I realize
There are some with no home
Not a nickel to loan
Could it be really me
Pretending that they're not alone?

A willow deeply scarred
Somebody's broken heart
And a washed out dream
They follow the pattern of the wind ya see
'Cause they got no place to be
That's why I'm starting with me

Chorus..."

To be completely honest, I haven't listened to music very much this week. My friend Naomi was in town with her daughter Elizabeth, so we were talking rather than listening to music. The kids went to VBS during the day, and they got in the car on Wednesday singing a song that reminded Naomi & I of today's song. So, we busted out singing it & doing the "white man biting his lip" dance [while the kids rolled their eyes]! Throughout the rest of that day & into the next one, we would randomly start singing it. Then at about 6:45 on Thursday night, we heard "Beat It" on the radio, & Chris informed us of Michael Jackson's death. We were like, "We've been singing one of his songs since yesterday..."

Odd...
and sadly coincidental...

Other than that, we had a super great week & didn't spend too much money! Yay! We are actually looking into the possibility of buying a house this year {to take advantage of the tax credit!}, so now I am even more set on NOT spending money this summer! Our main obstacle right now is coming up with a down payment ~ so if you know anyone whose looking to get rid of some $, send them our way! (lol) I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
