"Beauty Will Rise"
(by Steven Curtis Chapman)
I had an entirely different post planned for today, but my heart is too heavy to post something lighthearted right now. Please join me in praying for my friends Gary & Desiree. Their beautiful daughter passed away in a car accident yesterday. Bailey was a Senior in high school and a part of my small group on Sunday mornings. Her brother Cody is a Freshman at the school where my baby girl will be in the fall. Her grandma Yia Yia is the most adorable little lady I've ever known. They all know and hope in God, our Comforter and Peace, and I know He will carry them through this.
Please also pray for her fellow students in our youth group and at school. Some of us gathered at The Warehouse last night to comfort, share memories, and pray. Those kids grieve with the hope of seeing Bailey again. But as I dropped my babies off at school & passed by the high school this morning, a huge crowd was gathering in the parking lot. They were all dressed in camo in Bailey's honor & had made a memorial at her parking spot. So many of those kids don't know the Jesus who gave Bailey eternal life. I know that God will be glorified in this, and I believe that salvation will come to many as a result. But it really stinks right now.
"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God." (2 Cor. 1:3-4)
"...to comfort all that mourn; To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he might be glorified." (Is. 61:2b-4)
"And this is eternal life, that they know you the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent." (John 17:3)
