"The 59th Street Bridge Song (Feelin' Groovy)"

(by Simon & Garfunkel)

"Slow down, you move too fast
You got to make the morning last
Just kicking down the cobble stones
Looking for fun and feelin' groovy

Ba da da da da da da...
Feelin' Groovy

Hello lamp post, whatcha knowin'?
I've come to watch your flowers growin'
Ain'tcha got no rhymes for me?
Doot-in' doo-doo
Feelin' groovy

Ba da da da da da da...
Feelin' Groovy

I've got no deeds to do, no promises to keep
I'm dappled and drowsy and ready to sleep
Let the morning time drop all its petals on me
Life, I love you,
All is groovy

Ba da da da da da da..."

I'm feeling MUCH better now! I took a nap yesterday afternoon & slept for a solid seven hours last night (thank you, Hannah, for the suggestion & the prayer for a great night's sleep). I'm sorry about the pity party post the other day! I did it to myself, ya know. I think I need to adopt today's song as my motto, or something. I need to just slow down! I make myself WAY too busy ~ it's no wonder that I wear myself out sometimes.

I've been wearing closed-toed shoes for over a month now, because I haven't found the time to paint my toenails! If you really know me, you're more than aware of the fact that I wear flip-flops about 342 days of the year! {All except for the 3 or 4 weeks of "cold" weather we have here!} But, I'm the weirdo that has to have pretty feet in order to wear them, & lately, that has NOT been happening.

And, at the VIPS meeting at the kids' school, why did I feel the need to sign up for 75% of the activities?! I had already agreed to be the JA volunteer for Elly's class. That should have been sufficient! But no, I signed up to help with a bunch of little things, thinking that they weren't very often, so I could do it all! The problem is, they seem to all be at one time, & that is RIGHT NOW!!
  • The Butterfly Garden (involves occasional weeding & planting) needed weeding yesterday
  • the 5th graders' six week party (which only happens 6x a year) is this afternoon
  • a staff appreciation lunch (which only happens 4x a year) is next week
  • the workroom (we rotate grades to cover each week, or I can go up there whenever I have extra time ~ what's this thing called "extra time"?) has no 3rd grade parents signed up for next week
  • the school carnival (one day out of the school year) is this month
  • & I'm sure there are other things that I'll be getting an email about any moment (btw, I DID get an email while writing this & has to add a bullet point ~ yikes!)...

As if that wasn't enough, I agreed to be my street's host for National Night Out next week (btw ~ isn't it great that Texas has it's own day that's different from the entire rest of the country?! August really would be WAY too hot!!) I need to make flyers, pass them out to the entire street, pick up the host package, and buy the fixings for ice cream floats...

Elly's birthday is in just a couple of weeks, & I haven't even started planning her party. Fortunately, it's just a sleepover, so there's not SO much to plan. The girls will just do whatever they feel like doing at the time. I still need to send out invitations, buy a cake & pick up some party favors & something crafty for them to do at midnight or so.

Oh ya, & did you know we just moved?! I'm still trying to get everything sorted in the new house! I have stuff to get rid of, and, I'd love to have it all done in time for the community garage sale in a couple of weeks. (Hmm...is that a crazy goal?)

I haven't even mentioned church, Bible study, & volunteering in the Youth ministry! Man, I'm tired just thinking about all of this! My sister-in-law mentioned the other day that she could tell I've been busy by looking at the lack of activity on my Facebook! Well, I guess I'm off to update my status...
