"Rise Up"
(by David Crowder*Band)
I know that I've said this before & not been entirely successful, but I'm really wanting to make the most of my days this summer. And more specifically, I want to make time with Jesus a priority. In fact, I need to make time with Jesus a priority. I've done OK finding time to read the Bible in summers past, but I've had a hard time finding time to be alone with God. The thing is I desperately need Him in order to be whole and complete. And sane. And you know what they say about insanity...
I can't keep doing the same thing that I've done every summer & expect different results. So when my friend Heather blogged about an accountability group she was involved in, I knew God was leading me to join her in the Hello Mornings Challenge. We are a part of an online community that encourages each other to be consistent with our morning routine of waking up early and spending time with the Lord, as well as planning our day & exercising. {Though if I can be completely honest with y'all, I'm not really participating in the whole exercise part of it. I walk with Dad and ride my bike some, but I've learned that a regimented daily exercise routine is not healthy for me. Maybe one day I'll be fully free to the degree that daily exercise isn't associated with my life with ED. Yes, I should exercise for cardiovascular health. No, I'm not strong enough for it to be about that yet. Just keepin' it real!}
Though the challenge is a routine, it's not about a routine. It's about making Jesus an integral part of our lives {abiding in Him} so that He guides our days, actions, and attitudes. The challenge actually started a few weeks ago, but now is when it really starts for me. Summer is here, & y'all know how I enjoy sleeping in an hour or two whenever possible. But I've realized that I simply can't do that & have the time my soul needs. So I'm keeping my alarm set for my regular time, which gives me almost an hour of alone time before the men start getting up. This challenge really will allow me to have my time with Jesus as well as have more productive days, rather than sleeping in & feeling like I'm playing catch-up for the rest of the day.
And get this: there was already a theme song for the challenge! :) It's based on the verse, “Rise up; this matter is in your hands. We will support you, so take courage and do it.” (Ezra 10:4) How about that?!

as for the exercise, the important part is you know your limits. the most important part of exercise (IMO) is keeping yourself healthy enough to be able to be active with your family. only you know how that's best achieved.
