"Able"
(by Needtobreathe)
Wow. This week has been exhausting, and I was ready for it to be over by Tuesday night. I'm not even sure where to start. I don't want to bore you with all of the details, so I'll attempt to be brief...My step-dad {Gordon, but I call him "G"} was admitted into the hospital last Thursday, had surgery on Saturday night, & was released yesterday morning. As soon as he got home, my mom was admitted into the hospital with severe pain associated with a couple of different issues.
I don't remember if I've ever mentioned the fact that my mom has MS. She requires quite a bit of care, which G has lovingly administered for nearly 20 years. Obviously, he couldn't help her while he was in the hospital. By the amazing providence of God, my Uncle Mike just happened to fly in for a visit on Wednesday (the day before G was admitted to the hospital) & was able to care for my mom in G's absence. My step-sister (who works as a caretaker for the elderly) tended to some of Mom's needs as well. As a result of all this, it has come to Kerry's & my attention that Mom requires a lot more care than we realized. And a lot more than we are prepared to handle on our own. After visiting with mom and spending the night with Kerry & Wendy last night (about an hour away from me, but close to the hospital), we met with Mom's case manager this morning. I'm not sure how long she'll be in the hospital, but it looks like she'll qualify to be released to a facility that can care for her while G recovers (for a few weeks, at least).
So anyways, I'd appreciate your prayers for Mom & G, as well as my cousin Kirby (who is having major surgerytomorrow UPDATE: it has been rescheduled again for next Thursday). Thank you, friends. ♥
