"Head Over Heels"

I had to learn the hard way that being impulsive isn't always the best choice...
Back in my younger, more limber days, I loved to do cartwheels. If I saw a wide open space, I just couldn't resist! One such occurrence was on a summer afternoon when I was in high school. I walked into the fellowship hall of my church, and all of the accordion walls (that usually served as room dividers) were pushed back, leaving the entire room ready and waiting for a teenage girl to do a cartwheel. I simply couldn't help myself!
A couple of guys were sitting at the piano, and I said, "Hey y'all, watch this!" About halfway through my cartwheel, I realized that I was wearing the wrong outfit for such a thing. {Now, this was 1990, so please don't fault my style.} I had on a big t-shirt and neon biker shorts. Yes, you read that correctly. What on earth was I thinking?! Of course, when I was upside down, the shirt came up to my chin! Fortunately, I was wearing a bra, but still!!
I was so incredibly embarrassed, and those two boys never let me live it down! They started high school that year and teased me mercilessly in the hallways! They started out by saying, "Hey Amy, you wanna do a cartwheel for me?" Over time, they would simply smile, hold up two fingers (like a peace sign), then slowly wave until their fingers were upside down ~ mimicking my cartwheel! It sorta became our thing when we saw each other in the hallway. Like our secret wave or something!
