I don't really know if this story belongs in my

or not, but that's how I'm labeling it! It's not really a MISspeak, but it could be MISunderstood ~ so we'll go with that...

About a month ago, baby girl & I were finishing up her back-to-school shopping at Target. We walked by a man that I recognized from church, and I said to her, "Look, there's Mr. K" {I used his full last name, but it's totally irrelevant to the story}

She asked who I was talking about, but when we turned around he had gone down an aisle. Since we couldn't see him any more, I tried to describe him. For the record, I'm not very good at this. I said things like, "You know, he's a firefighter. He has really short hair. He has a son in the youth group, and I think he has a younger one maybe?" That's quite helpful...

As we made our way around Target a few more times {who knew it'd be so hard to find graph paper?}, we crossed his path a couple more times. Elly didn't notice him any of those times, though I tried to discreetly point him out. If I actually knew the man, I would've said something. But he never seemed to notice me, & I wasn't really up for an awkward conversation. {Though I'm quite good at them, I really never intend to have them!} I hate that feeling when you approach someone that you recognize, but they have absolutely no clue who you are. So I chose not to do that. I did mention to her that his son's name is Christian, but she didn't know who I was talking about.

Anyways, we finally went to check out, and I saw Mr. K a couple of registers away from us. So I said to Elizabeth, "Look, he's right over there. Christian isn't with him, but a younger boy is."

She somewhat recognized the man and asked me to describe his son Christian. Again not being very helpful, I said something like, "I think he's a Freshman or maybe a Sophomore. He's kinda short, but he's built. He has short hair, too."

She looked at me and said, "I've never met a Christian at church."

To which I responded with laughter! :D
