"The Stone"

(by Jars of Clay)

"For I proclaim the name of the Lord;
Ascribe greatness to our God!

The Rock! His work is perfect,
For all His ways are just;
A God of faithfulness and without injustice,
Righteous and upright is He."

{Deut 32:3-4}

I've been reading through Deuteronomy, and I'm sad every time I read about the end of Moses' life. He wrote the song (in Deut. 32) knowing that he was about to die without having entered the Promised Land. I know how the story ends, but I always have this hope that he'll actually get to enter & not just see it. I know that's weird, because I know the story won't change! I'm sure you've all done it when you watch a movie that you've seen before, and you hope that somehow it'll change & the beloved character won't die! {or is this another one of those instances when I'm the only one who does that?} I also do it when reading through the Gospels. I know it's silly, and I obviously know God's plan for salvation involved His Son dying. I also know the end of that story & the fact that Jesus is resurrected! But it's so devastating to envision my Lord enduring such a brutal death.

Anyways, while reading the end of Moses' story today, I thought of this song. And since I don't have much blog-worthy stuff happening these days, I decided to post it. {And let's face it: aren't you kinda glad to not constantly read me whining about cancer?!}

Alright, I'm off to reconnect with my friend & hold her baby. Doesn't that sound just about perfect?!

I've never thought about it that way; usually, I just read or watch in suspense, knowing that the time is coming.

BTW - It's YOUR blog, so you can write about whatever you want. So don't worry about "whining about cancer." It means you're being real and processing it.

Okay, first of all I know we all feel like Laura and you can be totally comfortable talking about your feelings and your journey on here. Second, you are not he only one who does that in movies. I do it even if I know it's a true story and I know the person dies, or the horse wins, or whatever the suspenseful part is.
