"Stick Like Glue"

(by Angel) Stick

I have a confession to make: I am guilty of birdslaughter. No, & I didn't make birds laugh. I'm a bird murderer. And I'm so sad about it.

See, over the winter, the land behind us was cleared out in order to expand the neighborhood, & we ended up with a little mouse problem in our garage. I called our pest control service, and they brought out some glue boards. Yes, I am aware of the fact that glue boards can be considered inhumane. I'm sorry if you feel that way & are now offended. It was the least messy way I knew to get rid of our little problem, & the boards were free.

Once we caught & disposed of the mice, we put more boards out just in case. Then we basically forgot about them. Last weekend, I noticed that one of the boards was out of place. Lo and behold, a poor little bird was on it. I was quite sad about that, because I have nothing against little birdies! My mister disposed of it, but days later the garage still smelled of death. We tried airing it out for a couple of days, but it was still pretty bad. I finally decided to look at the other board, & can you believe that there was yet another dead bird?! How incredibly sad is that?!

So, I think I am now anti-glue boards. If we have another mouse problem in the future, do you have a better idea?

Yes, we use glue boards as well. Living in the country in an old farm house, we get our fair share of field mice every now & then (though our two fuzzy boys scare most of them off!). I agree it's not the most pleasant thing to use, but it's the only thing that has worked for us. Let me know if you find a better solution.

Awe, I'm so sorry! It sounds like glue board work a little too well. :( I could always drop Missy off to live in your garage for a while. Although she's gotten so indoorsy that she might try to love the mice to death...
