"The New Year"

(by Death Cab for Cutie) Death Cab for Cutie - Transatlanticism - The New Year

"So this is the new year
And i don't feel any different
The clanking of crystal
Explosions off in the distance (in the distance)

So this is the new year
And I have no resolutions
For self assigned penance
For problems with easy solutions

So everybody put your best suit or dress on
Let's make believe that we are wealthy for just this once
Lighting firecrackers off on the front lawn
As thirty dialogues bleed into one

I wish the world was flat like the old days
Then i could travel just by folding a map
No more airplanes, or speedtrains, or freeways
There'd be no distance that could hold us back...

So this is the new year..."

A new year & a new blog look! My mister has been working on this for the past week or so. Isn't he awesome?! If you have dropped by this lovely New Year's afternoon, it probably isn't completely finished! But, we're about to go see my mister's football friend. So he'll have to finish it later! But, please come back & see the awesome job he has done!

Anyways, I've never been one to make New Year's Resolutions, but I figured it would be nice to have some goals. So, here are my 10 goals for 2010:

  1. Spend time with God daily
  2. Go on more dates with my mister
  3. Actually have Game Night with the kids & not just talk about doing it!
  4. Stay in better touch with my extended family
  5. Be a better friend (ie. listen more/talk less)
  6. Get caught up in the kids' scrapbooks
  7. Get caught up {& stay caught up} in the family scrapbook
  8. Be a better pet owner (by training Pepper better & walking her more)
  9. Stay on top of my housework & stop making excuses for not doing stuff
  10. Exercise 3x a week
I'm trying to be realistic, but I have to be honest. I have become very lazy lately. Some of these goals require a bit of effort. OK, ya, mainly the housework one.

And the exercise one.

I hope to be more disciplined & motivated this year. If you have any tips to help me be more disciplined & motived, please share! And, yes, you have the right to hold me accountable. So, you have my goals for 2010. What are yours?

Okay, I told you I was behind on blogs. I just posted my resolution/goals, but I didn't write everything. Last year Jeremy made it a goal to go on a date once a month. I know some people do once a week, but we are good to get out 12 times a year, seriously! Anyway, I would like to continue that one. I feel like I would need tips from you about the housework one, because you have always been so neat and tidy. However, as the messy mom the one thing that has helped me to keep up with the house more (and it a big way) is using a timer. It's something I learned from Fly lady. It's not for everybody, but I swear by it. For me I just spend 10 minutes per room, it makes it less daunting, but you could use it to make sure you focus on one project for 20 minutes or whatever, it's adaptable to many situations to keep ADD people like me on track.

Sorry for writing a book in your comment section!
